What Happens to Those Who Die in the Millennium

People on the World during the Millennium

  • Who volition be on the earth during the Millennium?

A thousand years of peace, love, and joy will begin on the earth at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. This chiliad-yr period is called the Millennium. The scriptures and the prophets assistance us understand what it will be like to alive on the earth during the Millennium.

Considering of the destruction of the wicked at the Savior's 2nd Coming, but righteous people will live on the world at the showtime of the Millennium. They will exist those who accept lived virtuous and honest lives. These people will inherit either the terrestrial or celestial kingdom.

During the Millennium, mortals will still live on world, and they will continue to take children as nosotros practise now (see D&C 45:58). During the Millennium, Jesus volition "reign personally upon the earth" (Articles of Faith 1:10). Joseph Smith explained that Jesus will "reign over the Saints and come down and instruct" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church building: Joseph Smith [2007], 258).

The Work of the Church during the Millennium

There volition be two great works for members of the Church building during the Millennium: temple piece of work and missionary work. Temple work involves the ordinances that are necessary for exaltation. These include baptism, the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost, and the temple ordinances—the endowment, temple wedlock, and the sealing together of family units.

Many people take died without receiving these ordinances. People on the globe must perform these ordinances for them. This work is now existence washed in the temples of the Lord. Conditions during the Millennium

The Prophet Joseph Smith taught that during the Millennium, "the globe will exist renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory" (Articles of Religion one:10).

Satan Spring

During the Millennium, Satan volition be bound. This means he will non have ability to tempt those who are living at that time (encounter D&C 101:28). The "children shall abound up without sin unto salvation" (D&C 45:58). "Considering of the righteousness of [the Lord'due south] people, Satan has no power; wherefore, he cannot be loosed for the space of many years; for he hath no ability over the hearts of the people, for they dwell in righteousness, and the Holy 1 of Israel reigneth" (1 Nephi 22:26).

Peace on the Earth

During the Millennium, there will be no war. People will live in peace and harmony together. Things that have been used for war volition exist turned to useful purposes. "They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not elevator up sword against nation, neither shall they larn war any more" (Isaiah two:4; see also Isaiah eleven:six–seven; D&C 101:26).

Righteous Regime

President John Taylor taught: "The Lord will be king over all the earth, and all mankind literally under his sovereignty, and every nation nether the heavens will have to acknowledge his authority, and bow to his scepter. Those who serve him in righteousness will accept communications with God, and with Jesus; will have the ministering of angels, and will know the past, the nowadays, and the futurity; and other people, who may not yield full obedience to his laws, nor be fully instructed in his covenants, volition, nevertheless, have to yield full obedience to his government. For it will exist the reign of God upon the earth, and he will enforce his laws, and command that obedience from the nations of the world which is legitimately his right" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church building: John Taylor [2001], 225).

No Expiry

During the Millennium, in that location will be no death as we know it. When people have lived to an old age, they will not die and be buried. Instead, they will be inverse from their mortal status to an immortal condition in "the twinkling of an heart." (Encounter D&C 63:51; 101:29–31.)

All Things Revealed
